If I can, you sure can, see the Grand Canyon, see it from far or close, up or down. Grand Canyon is beautiful but this article is more about which Grand Canyon to visit and how to pick which way.
Yes Grand Canyon is a National Park. Free to visit. 103 years old. And you will find the official website and all other information here. There is North and South Rim which are very popular with tourists especially the ones coming from Las Vegas. Even though the park is free to enter, the major sites like North Rim, South Rim or West Rim are ticketed by private certified tour companies. Do check when you buy tours that they are not resellers.
This is located inside the Grand Canyon National Park. You can visit it by car, train or bus. South Rim Grand Canyon is 4.5 hours to 5 hours drive from Las Vegas. You will find a lot of tours by bus, helicopter or car that will pick you from your hotel in vegas to south rim canyon and bring you back.
Situated on the north of the Grand Canyon National Park, North Rim is also 4.5 hours drive from Las Vegas. Again a lot of tour companies will take you from your hotel with drop off facility.
So we choose to drive from Phoenix to Glen Canyon National Park. Now you can stay in Flagstaff which is a town in Arizona or Page which is closer to the National Park. Page has a lot of options in Hotels and motels to stay very near to the national park. But unless you book in advance, the hotels in Page are very expensive.
You recognise Antelope Canyon as the Windows wallpaper. Now you will find a lot of blogs talking about this place and they are helpful but a bit confusing. I did read a lot of them to make a decision which Antelope Canyon to visit. We visited Antelope Canyon X as you can only visit any of them via a private tour company and they fill up their availability very fast. We decided to stay in Kanab, a small town an hour away from Glen Canyon Dam. Red Canyon Cabins are literally surrounded by red mountains. The place has laundry where you can wash and dry your clothes for $4. Plus the town Kanab has shops and gas.
Hope this helps you decide which Grand Canyon to visit. If you do decide to visit any of the Canyons, do share your experiences or tips for the same. Also do check our Instagram account for updates on our travels.
